In the slew of selling that seems to be a predominant activity for insiders these days, it was nice to see at least some bullishness. Two c-level insiders – CEO and CFO – at Community Capital Corporation (CPBK) reported buying over $224K of their company shares:
– William Stevens (President/CEO) bought $100K increasing his holdings by 125%
– Wesley Brewer (EVP/CFO/Secretary) bought $124.1K increasing his holdings by 86%.
Both purchases are very impressive. According to Yahoo! Finance, Mr. Brewer’s salary is $164K, which makes investing three quarters of his yearly pay especially bullish. Looking deeper into the footnotes of their filings, you’ll find that both purchases have been contributions to their 401(k) plans. This tells me that their sentiment is long-term and they expect significant growth over the years.

According to research by a US based academic, Nejat Seyhun, transactions by CFOs are more predictive than those of Directors or CEOs. It will be interesting to see what comes of Mr Wesley Brewer’s acquisition over the next 3 years.
